Earlier, the Prosecutor, Mrs Helen Ashasim, had informed the Court that the matter was reported to Maitama Police Station by one Ruth Aina of Mpape Village on June 3.

She said the defendant and one Egbuawalo (still at large), had approached the complainant in the month of June 2016, and introduced himself as a seller of ‘Brazilian’ hair.

According to Ashasim, the duo told their victim that they have two containers of various kinds of Brazilian hair, which have just arrived the country from China, and are about to be distributed for sale.

She stated that the complainant gave them N 150, 000, after which they went into hiding and stopped picking her (complainants) calls.

She added that all personal efforts by the complainant to get back her money or the Brazilian hair, proved abortive.

The Prosecutor said luck however ran out for the defendant when he was traced to a hideout, arrested and charged to court.

However, the defendant pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the charge and the matter was adjourned till Sept. 25.
