Etisalat Nigeria plans new approach to migration

Following the Abu Dhabi-based Etisalat Group withdrawal from Nigeria, and termination of management agreement with its Nigerian arm, the Emerging Markets Telecommunication Services Limited, EMTS, has said it will
adopt a new approach to migrate to the brand.

The Chief Executive Officer, Boye Olusanya, disclosed in a statement that, “In order to ensure the change of the trading is delivered efficiently and responsibly, we will take a measured approach to migrate to the new brand over the next few months.”

He stated that the new trading name, 9mobile, represented the company’s 0809ja heritage, 9ja-centricity, and its evolution over nine years of operations in Nigeria.

He further stated that, “A strong and resilient Nigerian spirit continues to reside in us, uniting us with our subscribers, confident that you will continue to believe in our new brand, which strongly reflects our innate creativity and youthfulness.

He disclosed that, the rebranding was a testament to the company’s dynamism, responsiveness and agility as a business, while leveraging the power of technology to deliver innovative products and services to meet customers’ needs.

“Our confidence in our ability to continue to make this happen is bolstered by the sheer determination, commitment and passion of our people to do more; and continue delivering excellent service.”

He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to quality service, adding that “We will continue to innovate, support, and empower you to do more, whether as an individual or a business.
